To see further afield
Some visitors will want to visit other towns in Tuscany during their stay.
- Siena: easily reached by bus (or train). The bus station is in Via S. Caterina da Siena Take the rapido for Siena which takes around 1h20. A stark contrast to Florence as it maintains much of its medieval character.
- San Gimignano is also reached by bus (change at Poggibonsi) – it takes c 1h30.
- Lucca is a great day out. Reached by train from the main station. Hire a bike and ride all the way round the walls!
- Pisa, of course, is about an hour away by train.
- The not often visited Pistoia is a short journey away by train, as is Prato.
- One visitor has even been to Livorno (1h30 by train) – he recommended taking the No1 bus from Livorno station to the Marina where there are some excellent seafood restaurants.
